Registration
You can register to vote or update your registration information:
- online
- by mail
- in person at your elections office
You must have resided in Nevada at least 30 days prior to the election in which you intend to vote, and at least 10 days within the precinct in which you intend to vote.
Election Day Voting
Polling places are open from 7am to 7pm on Election Day.

Early Voting
A voter may vote early at any location in their respective county. Check with your local election office for early voting locations and hours.
Absentee Voting
Any registered voter may request an absentee ballot and vote by mail.
Nevada plans to conduct an all-mail election for the Nov 3, 2020 General Election. All active registered voters in Nevada will automatically be sent a mail-in ballot.
You are eligible to vote in Nevada if you:
- Are a U.S citizen
- Are a resident of Nevada
- Are at least 18 years old by Election Day
- Live in the precinct where you vote for at least 30 days prior to the election
You are NOT eligible to vote in Nevada if:
- You have been legally declared "mentally incompetent" by a court
- You are registered to vote in another state
- You are on parole for a felony conviction or convicted of a felony
You may preregister to vote in Nevada
- if you will be 18 by Election Day
Student Eligibility
If you are a student, you are eligible to vote in Nevada if:
- You reside in Nevada but are attending college in another state
- You reside in another state but attend college in Nevada
Voter Registration
To register to vote in Nevada you should provide:
- The Last Four Digits of your Social Security Number
- Your Nevada Driver's License or State/non-driver ID Number
Voting In-Person
If you are registered to vote in Nevada, you are not required to show ID to vote, but it is recommended that you bring along with you an ID from this list:
- Valid ID Issued by the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, Transportation, Highway Safety, etc.
- Valid Military ID
- Valid Nevada Driver's License
- Voter Registration Card
- Any other form of ID issued by a governmental agency which contains the voter s signature and physical description or picture.

Overseas Voters
U.S. citizens living abroad have the right to vote as absentee voters, provided they are eligible to vote in their state. If you are living outside of the U.S. permanently, indefinitely, or temporarily, your voting rights stay with you, even if you never voted when you lived in the U.S. To vote from overseas:
- Complete and send an overseas voter registration/ballot request form to your election office in the U.S. This is one specific form that will register you as an overseas voter and request your absentee ballot – simultaneously.
- A U.S. citizen who has never resided in the U.S. and has a parent or legal guardian that was last domicilied in Nevada is is eligible to vote in Nevada as long as he or she has not registered or voted in another state.
Military Voters
Service members and their eligible family members living outside their voting jurisdiction (within or outside the U.S.) are able to vote as absentee voters.
- If you are a service member, or an eligible family member, there is a single form to file for both voter registration and ballot request. It is often called the “Federal Post Card Application” or the FPCA form. This form must be re-filed with your election office each time you change location.
To vote as a service member or eligible family member:
- Complete and send a voter registration/ballot request form “FPCA” to your election office in the U.S. It is the same form in all states.
Voting Military
Service members and their dependents may register and request a ballot using the federal voter registration/ballot request form ("FPCA"). You will have the following identification options when completing the form:
- U.S. State or Territory or District Issued ID
- Option to Indicate that you do not have the Requested ID
- Last 4 Digits of your Social Security Number
Voting Overseas
U.S. citizens living overseas may register and request a ballot using the overseas voter registration/ballot request form. You will have the following identification options when completing the form:
- U.S. State or Territory or District Issued ID
- Option to Indicate that you do not have the Requested ID
- Last 4 Digits of your Social Security Number

A person requesting an absentee ballot must be a registered voter in the State of Nevada. Voter registration deadlines apply. Nevada allows you to receive the blank ballot by fax if you are outside the United States. Uniformed Service members and citizens who reside outside of the U.S. that requested a ballot via mail, fax, or email may return their voted ballot via fax or email. Voted ballots must be received by the appropriate county clerk/registrar of voters by 7 pm on Election Day. Note e-mailed ballots should indicate "Official Nevada Voted Ballot" in the subject line. |
