These are the officials responsible for ensuring fair and accurate elections in their jurisdictions. Our directory covers all US states and territories, providing you with the essential contact information to get in touch with your election administrators when you need them.

Election Officials are Our Heroes

Election officials are at the front line of the voting process and involved in managing each aspect of it. They support you with the information and resources you need to participate in our democracy through the action of voting.

Election officials administer elections, manage polling places, certify elections, respond to the needs of voters and more. Every voter has an election official. These administrators are the most trusted source to answer voters' questions.

How the Election Official Directory is Used

By providing access to election office contact information, the US Vote Election Official Directory helps to facilitate the movement of information in the voting process. The Election Official Directory has become an essential resource for voters who need to reach out to their local officials, as well as for advocacy groups, political campaigns, and civic organizations that want to engage with election officials in their communities.

US Vote’s Election Official Directory is designed to be user-friendly and easy to navigate. Our drop-down menu allow users to choose their state and jurisdiction to find their local election office by location. We also include mailing addresses to ensure that voters know where to send their voter registration forms and ballot request documents as well as completed vote-by-mail ballots. Express mail addresses support the need for courier services to deliver ballots to election office locations.

Our Election Official Directory is not just a resource for voters and organizations, but for election officials themselves. It facilitates officials to connect with one another, share best practices, foster connections and collaborate to improve the voting process in their communities.

The Valued Work of Election Officials

US Vote understands that the work of election officials is essential to our democracy, and we are committed to supporting them in their efforts. By connecting voters with election officials, the US Vote's Election Official Directory helps to ensure that every citizen can participate in our democracy with voting as a central action.

In a world where misinformation and disinformation are prevalent, the Election Official Directory provides a reliable, verified source of information for voters. The directory is a useful resource for citizens and organizations seeking to engage with election officials on issues related to voting, including voter registration, polling locations, voting machines, and election results.

How and Why the Election Official Directory was Developed

US Vote was the original creator of this nationwide Election Official Directory, also referred to as the “EOD”. Our efforts began in 2004 when U.S. Vote Foundation was known as “Overseas Vote Foundation” (OVF) and we were focused chiefly on supporting overseas citizens and military voters to register and request their ballots to vote from abroad. It was necessary, from the beginning, for US citizens living and voting from abroad to easily access their local election official contact information and to send them their voter registration and ballot request forms directly.

To accomplish the task, we needed to gather and curate the contact data for every one of the election offices across all states and territories. 20 years later, we are still committed to the task and working to improve the process of maintaining and providing this data to voters and the election community.

The EOD program blossomed and OVF (later US Vote, which expanded our voter outreach efforts into the US domestic realm) became known for its development and maintenance of local election official contact data. The EOD data is closely and continuously curated using data from official local and state election sources.

The EOD database is also distributed to vetted organizations through an API. Our data is relied upon by a significant number of voter outreach and election research organizations across the country.
